Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Cinderella - Section 3: Guided Practice

Another Strategy to teach finding the central message is to think about how the problem and solution reveal the central message. But, to do this we need to first understand key details.

A nice activity to do after this lesson could be asking the students: What was the problem? (Cinderella's step sisters and step-mother were mean to her and would not let her go to the ball. Cinderella had to use magic to go the ball and the magic stopped working.) How was the problem solved? (The Prince came looking for her and she got to be a princess.) What lesson does this teach? (Always be honest and kind.) Using problem and solution is a great way to teach about the central message.
