Reflection: Adjustments to Practice September 11th Patriot Day - Section 3: Presentation

As I mentioned earlier, moving farther away from September 11, 2001 has made a marked difference in the emotions of our students.  This lesson went well because the kids have grown up aware that 9-11 is significant, and to be respected greatly.

They wrote about peace, some very creatively.  Some disregarded the prompt entirely and wrote what was going through their minds after the class discussion.  In most assignments ignoring the prompt would be a red flag, but I actually appreciated her need to write a letter to the victims to tell them the ways in which life is different now.

In fact, her creative idea is what I intend to use as the new prompt I present for this writing activity next year.  I love when my kids give me such great ideas!
