Reflection: Writing Across the Disciplines Performance of Rip Van Winkle - Section 3: Performance


One thing that I thought might make this powerful would be to have 8th grade Social Studies students teach my 6th graders about the Revolutionary War and the era mentioned in Rip Van Winkle. It's not that they cannot grasp the concepts, or that they even need a deep level of understanding of the background to understand the play, but it might be a nice way to connect kids. I know that our 8th graders (and I assume, most 8th graders across the county) study the American Revolution, so it'd be a nice cross-cultural connection.

It's something to think about for next year.
