Reflection: Pacing My Brother, The Pain - Section 2: Setting a Purpose


Depending on the time you would like to spend on this lesson, it could easily be combined with day three of this unit. I chose to separate the two to keep my lessons “mini” rather than “maxi”! However, the two could easily be combined since they both contain the same strategies and activities. One focuses on the sister, while the other focuses on the brother.

Lesson 8 of 14

Objective: SWBAT determine character traits, search for supporting evidence, and decide if a character changes in the story.

Big Idea: In day three of this fictional skill unit, we will re-read the second part of the text, "The Pain and the Great One," which focuses on the younger brother. We examine his character: traits, actions and words, and whether he changes in the story.
