Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Rainbow fish - Section 6: Warm Up

The standards I used today are important standards that help lay the foundation for many ELA skills.  My students need to know how to contribute to a class discussion even if they are just repeating what someone else said.  With practice they will be able to give an original answer.  I love to brainstorm ideas with my students.  It is amazing how much they know and can contribute to our discussion.  The more outgoing students are great examples for my shier students.  The more we share, the more we learn from each other.  I just need to steer the discussion in the right direction.  The standard for retelling a story in a sequencial order is important for upper grades when they take the standardized testing or writing papers.  Kindergarten is the foundation for all these skills.  If I follow the common core, my students will be prepared for what comes in the future.
