Reflection: Rules and Consequences Archaic Archives - Section 6: Reading and Recording


It never fails that once students are working in a group there will be one group that does not get along. Even with careful planning someone will not get along with someone. In most cases this is a great time to help students with conflict resolution and compromise. I will either do this with the whole group or with just the two individuals that are having trouble. The key is to listen to both and then offer suggestions to help them resolve the conflict. If the whole class can learn form it, I might share the experience with the student's permission, with the whole class later, when the lesson is complete or closing for the day.

Unit 17: Researching Basics
Lesson 9 of 10

Objective: SWBAT read, write, and collaborate with peers about an Archaic Native American group to have better understanding of the text that they can then share with the class.

Big Idea: To read a complex text and understand multiple Native American groups is hard. Students have a hard time remembering all of the facts that are within the text. In this lesson, students will work in small groups to answer text embedded questions.
