Reflection: Lesson Planning A Day to Celebrate Our Planet Earth - Section 1: Hook

It has been said a hundred times, but it is really important to preview any videos before showing them to your class.  Don't just take someone's word for it.  I am sure that most of the time, videos recommended to us as teachers are fine, but it only takes one to cause problems for you.  I have a friend who showed a video to her class.  She previewed the whole thing, except the last couple of minutes.  It was in these last couple minutes that there was a more graphic scene than what she wanted to share with her class. Sure enough, she heard from a parent about it.  Even if the video itself is just fine, as in the case of the video for the hook section of this lesson, the video was thirteen minutes and I only planned on ten minutes for the entire hook.  So make sure you prep well before including unknown video to your lessons.
