Reflection: Student Ownership Mentor Text: Sentence Fluency - Section 3: Sharing our Writing

Students decontextualized their writing by taking out sentences and categorizing them into types: statements, commands, questions, exclamations, etc.  By completing this process, students understood and visually analyzed the quality of their work through the use of varied sentence structure and length.  They realize that this variation provides a rhythmic quality to their work that results in fluent writing.
