Reflection: Trust and Respect Memorial Day at The Wall - Section 2: Procedure

I think that every time I read this story, I get choked up and teary. I am a former military wife and I have been in a challenging situation as such.  I also feel that this is an important introduction to civics for our young students, so it is okay for me to show my emotions and then explain why I get this way when I read the story.  I feel a strong sense of patriotism and I want my students to feel proud of our country as well.  So let the tears flow.  If your classroom environment is one of trust and respect, the students will feel a connection to you and will want to console.
