## Reflection: Standards Alignment Comparing Decimals Using a Numberline - Section 3: Practice

As we move deeply into CCSS, it is continually being revealed through my teaching that the depth of understanding and the proving is what makes students thinking in directions that I have not seen before. When I first thought about making them draw number lines, I thought it was too hard for them to do accurately. Most number lines that they have to plot are printed for them and are easy to draw on, but this rigorous lesson showed me that they can attain this skill and pay attention to accuracy. Why Number Line?

Standards Alignment: Why number line if they can just compare using values?
