Reflection: Standards Alignment MLK's Egg-speriment Lab and Writing - Section 1: Why this Lesson?

This project is one that I love because it's truly meaningful to students and it teaches them a moral.  That's not the only reason I like to connect MLK to this writing lesson.

Typically, it is somewhat difficult to meet the W.K.8 standard

This standard says that we can guide out students to recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.

With this egg-speriment lesson, students are able to 1) gather information from sources, AND 2) gather information from an experience.  Then, they answer my question- how are these books and this project related?

In the end, this project really helps me meet this writing standard with my students, while also tying in a cross-curricular extension!
