Reflection: Routines and Procedures Long Vowel Introduction - Section 2: Introduction to Long Vowel Sounds

Student repetition in this exercise is key!
When we have students repeat what we have said, we accomplish two things:
1) We make sure that the students hear our information so they can state it correctly.
2) We provide the students with extra opportunities to soak in the information.

Repetition give students extra exposure to the word, which is exactly what kindergarteners need to remember information.

Having my students teach each other provides them with a chance to, 1- say it for themselves for even further exposure, and 2- gain confidence in using the correct terminology by showing off their knowledge to a partner.

In the end, the repetition in the exercise may take two to three extra minutes, but it truly helps build the background and gives students an even better chance at memorizing the sounds!
