Reflection: Intervention and Extension Close Reading for Author's Craft with the Secret Life of Walter Mitty - Section 4: Closing


I can see from my "write longs" that some students are ready to start an essay in which they would be successful in comparing texts and others are not. I will direct students to write with the following options in mind: write just about the theme in Walter Mitty, compare themes across two texts or compare themes across all three texts. 

I only have three students who I will direct to just write about the theme of Walter Mitty because their claim, reasons and evidence are not in a logical sequence in their last two essays and write longs.These three students will be a small group I meet with in order to have them make a comparison across texts for their final.
