Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Presidential Prose: Reading President-Themed Texts Closely (Part 1) - Section 4: Demonstrate Skills

One of the CCSS ELA shifts is that students gain a knowledge of the disciplines through reaing texts while meeting ELA standards.  I think this lesson is a great example of how students can work on ELA CCSS and simultaneously gain knowledge about historical topics.  My students learned so much about presidents from reading Judith St. George's book, and yet they still were working on ELA standards!
