Flawed Dogs Vocabulary
Lesson 4 of 4
Objective: SWBAT: understand vocabulary in the first few chapters of our book.
Generally, I skim two or three chapters of the book and jot down words I assume are going to be unfamiliar to my struggling readers. You could certainly use a Word or Google document, but this site already has the template.
On the first day of learning these words, before we even begin the chapters, I spend the entire class period (about 35 minutes) playing this game as many times as we can. Usually, it's only twice because my students are still learning the words.
In subsequent lessons, we play the game at least once to review the words, and then make it a race to see how quickly we can get through the "chain" of words. These words are from Flawed Dogs, the book we are reading together in our Response to Intervention class.
