Reflection: Checks for Understanding Analyzing Characters and Symbols in Act 1 Scene 2 of A Raisin in the Sun - Section 2: Building Knowledge

After our brief conversation about the symbol of Mama's plant, a student's light bulb brightly went on. She noted that Mama said that the plant never gets enough light or water in the first scene.  I then asked why does she think this comment was of importance and my student said, "Mama still feels good about how she never stops nourishing the plant like she does with her family."   I love these moments of insight and deeper understanding!
