Reflection: Checks for Understanding Free in Freemont? Analyzing Amir's Attempts to Escape the Ghosts of Afghanistan (day 2 of 2) - Section 1: SSR and Reflection

I would like to tell you that my amazing reading model or classroom charisma are solely responsible for my students' progress with the novel, but the fact of the matter seems to be that the frequent good-old-fashioned quizzes are helping to guide my students quite a bit as they read.  These offer extrinsic  motivation, while the other means are aimed at fostering strong reader identities, social interaction and interest.  Both seem necessary when structuring a longish inquiry into a novel of this length.
