Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Introduction to A Raisin in the Sun: Viewing Introductory Video and Taking Notes - Section 4: Student Learning Activity


Connecting to prior knowledge was something that the video introduction provided for the students who had read the play last year.  I quickly realized that most students had very little in depth understanding of the play's theme and events.  The video offered them an opportunity to discuss the purpose and theme of this dramatic play.

Objective: SWBAT cite specific evidence from video introduction of A Raisin in the Sun and demonstrate understanding by writing evidence based notes. SWBAT read and analyze a poem Dream Deferred by annotating for imagery.

Big Idea: Students receive essential background understanding to prepare them for the reading of a play.
