Reflection: Unit Planning Cosmically Cool Planet Research! Day Two: Researching with Digital and Print Sources - Section 3: Lesson: Taking Notes with Digital and Print Sources


Knowing our students were going to be researching planets, and learning about space, I created a tab on my website that includes links to kid-friendly space sites.  We'll be using the links in computer class to research and complete other tasks.  The students enjoy visiting them at home, too!  The particular website service I'm currently using, TeacherWeb, allows me to hide the page from view when I'm not using it.  This will make it easy to hide when we are finished, but still at my access when I want to check the links, update, and display next year.

Objective: SWBAT build their knowledge about a planet by reading print and digital sources. SWBAT to answer self-generated research questions about their planet, taking notes.

Big Idea: The students begin reading informational text in digital and print forms about the planet they're researching. They answer questions that they generated and take brief notes on notecards.
