Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Text Structures: Name that Structure – Compare and Contrast Edition - Section 2: Mini-Lesson

For today’s lesson, the text that I am giving students uses the Compare and Contrast Text Structure. I want to mix up the order a bit so that students won’t rely on the order of their anchor chart to decide. I choose Compare and Contrast next because kids can usually see pretty quickly when a text is talking about two different things and showing similarities and differences between them. The hardest part for students is usually remembering what this structure is called. For some reason, in my experience, this is the most challenging one for students to name, even if they understand the concept behind it.
