Reflection: Real World Applications When I get big I want to be - Section 2: Reading the Story

I found it interesting that my students wanted to talk about their parent's careers.  Many of their parents work in fast food places, do lawn work, or work as a maid at the hotel across the street.  I don't remember wondering what I would be when I got big.  I wonder if they think about it?  Many of my students wrote that they wanted to be a Police officer because they could arrest people or shoot people.  That worries me.  I am just grateful they are young and will change their minds.  We did accomplish our goal of meeting the set CCSS.  Our discussion today was interesting and informative.
