Reflection: Self-Talk Multiplying and Dividing Fractions Unit Assessment - Section 1: Set a Goal

The most valuable lessons elementary school teachers can offer students are those that teach how to learn. Teachers have the opportunity to help students understand their own learning styles, foster their students’ self-regulated learning abilities, and teach them to take responsibility for their own learning. These lessons have the potential to empower students so they are more successful in school and throughout life. Learning how to learn is an essential component of preparing for the global future.

This example of scaffolding students to set goals is one of the many ways that I try to empower my students to become better self-regulated learners.
