Reflection: Exit Tickets Responding to the Short Story "Sucker" by Analyzing the Author's Viewpoint - Section 4: Wrap-Up


The first pair of students answered the question correctly and there were no further comments but as the bell rang and the students began leaving the class, I pulled one student aside and asked him to give me his answer.  He said, "Viewpoint is the author's point of view."  When I asked him to expand on his response he said he had to get to his next class and quickly left.

I was not certain if he could have expanded on his answer and this made be realize that to truly find out if all students understand the wrap-up question,  I need to have a more effective method of finding out what they all learned versus saying "If you disagree let me know."  The tendency is for students to say nothing in order to leave class when the bell rings.
