Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Counting Crocodiles - Section 1: Warm Up


A lot of the CCSS have teachers looking for the student's background knowledge about the content.  In this lesson I tapped into their love of the 5 little monkeys swinging from the tree.  They love that song because they get to slap their arms together and yell "Snap", as the crocodile grabs the monkeys.  They know from this song that crocodiles like to get the monkeys.  I used this fun song to grab their attention and introduce my story.  I did not show the video because we know the song.
