Reflection: Adjustments to Practice Mars One Close Read - Craft and Structure - Section 4: Summarizing the Article

The more passionately the students feel about a particular subject we are studying, the more likely they are to include opinion in a summary they have written. This has been a struggle for us for most of the year. It is really hard for students to take out their own feelings and beliefs when they feel strongly about a subject.  This summary was no exception. Students feel very strongly about the Mars One project and it is hard for them to keep those feelings out of the factual summary. This is one thing I continually review to try and get the students to understand that a summary should not contain opinion.
