Reflection: High Quality Task Identifying the Direct Objects in Sentences - Section 4: Closure


Scholars enjoyed using their own creativity to create their own sentences as they played the game.  I liked increasing the rigor of this lesson by providing scholars with the opportunity to create their own sentence and identify the direct object.  Some students had trouble constructing complete sentences, so I had to remind them of the definition of a complete sentence - has a subject, verb, and expresses a complete thought.  This was an effective reminder for most of them.  The lesson is Common Core-aligned because it allows scholars to build upon each other's ideas, while speaking and listening.
