Introduction and Expectations

5 minutes

This time is set aside for students to have some practice reading a play and working with the questions we discuss in the last lesson. I didn't feel that my students need three different stations today, as I wanted them to have time to read a new play and answer some questions that aligned to RL5.3. I want the kids to be able to use these questions as discussion starters so they can see that reading is not always about reading and answering questions. I like to use the questions as a way to work on peer discourse. I like the kids to be prepared for the discussions first though. 

Independent Work

50 minutes

I will be the "guide on the side" today and make my way around to as many kids as I can. I have 4 that are still struggling at this point in the year, so I'll spend most of my time with them.  If you don't have access to this book, you can use some of the question stems to create questions aligned to another drama. Here is an overview of where to find some resources.
