Warm Up

5 minutes

Today is Trailer Tuesday, so I will show students a book trailer or two depending on length. I select trailers for new release books and great books that students aren't picking up. (The link provided will take you to an earlier lesson with my reflection explaining more about my use of book trailers.)

There are several sites online for locating book trailers.  A quick search on you tube will locate several. Of course, always preview the trailer before showing a class.

Our librarian, Ms. Gordon, and I will team teach today.  We now have access to student Google Doc accounts and I can't wait to get students in and using them.  As a team we will demonstrate how to:

1.  Log in & work with settings

2.  Creating documents, etc.

3.  Uploading documents, images, videos, audio, etc.

4.  Sharing with each other, groups or teachers and using the comments feature.

5.  Working together in class or from home (We will demo this with me at my desk and her in the front at the SMART board to simulate students connecting, sharing and working together.)

As we do these things students will be on their laptops participating, sharing, etc.

Wrap Up

5 minutes

Students log out and back in to demonstrate their ability to open their google account and access information independently.

Later in the year, to help with those who constantly forgot how to login, I had a student create a screencast tutorial and posted it on Edmodo.  This allows students to review how to access their student accounts at school or at home anytime until they have it down.
