Argument Presentations Part 2 & Final Revisions

Objective: SWBAT present and evaluate arguments effectively.
Today is Trailer Tuesday, so I will show students a book trailer or two depending on length. I select trailers for new release books and great books that students aren't picking up. (The link provided will take you to an earlier lesson with my reflection explaining more about my use of book trailers.)
There are several sites online for locating book trailers. A quick search on you tube will locate several. Of course, always preview the trailer before showing a class.
We will continue what we started yesterday with the last two groups presenting today. Students will take out their group presentation rubric and continue to delineate each group's argument and evaluate their use of OREO.
I will review the procedure:
1. Group presentation/Speech (audience evaluate and take notes)
2. Pro/Con Speeches (1 minute each)
3. Group addresses the Pro/Cons (1 minute) This should a group member who was not the speaker
4. Groups Confer (1 minute)
5. Call for Vote (Each table gets one vote. The vote signifies that your table supports the argument made by the group.)
Then, we will begin with the next group. (Students already know who is next as I told them in yesterday's class.)
After the last presentation:
Students will submit their evaluations by placing them in the caddy. I'll collect them after they leave.
Wrapping Up the Unit
To wrap up class and this unit, I'll ask students to access their google docs. Now everyone has a screen cast video conference from me. Video conferences were explain in class a few days ago when students worked with one piece per table.
Students will use headphones (their own and school owned) to listen to my thoughts and suggestions. Then, they'll use the remaining time to make final revisions to their argument piece.
Before time has elapsed I'll remind students that all revisions should be completed tonight or after school today if they do not have access at home.
