Big Idea

Presenting research is just as much about expectations from the audience as it is from the presenter. Here's how I address that:

My students are giving presentations based on the research they found for their Embedded Assessment. Almost half of the scoring criteria has to do with the presentation aspect, with the other half going to the research paper component of the assignment. Although the assignment doesn't ask that the students be scored for audience participation, I felt that it was necessary for some of those CCSS speaking and Listening Standards.

The students use the Student Feedback form to hold their thinking during the presentations. Here's an example of student work on that form:
