Students will complete the Do Now in 5 minutes. I will then ask two students to come up to the board to show their answers to the class. I will select students to solve the system using different methods. I will ask students not to look at each other's work as they solve. After they finish, I will ask the class to analyze their work to see if the students arrived at the same answer.
Next, I will ask a student will read the objective, "SWBAT solve real world scenarios using systems of equations".
Before beginning new material, I will return the exit cards from our last class to give students an opportunity to review their responses.

Students will practice solving systems of equation word problems in today's partner activity.
Students will read the scenario on each card, and then match the card with the corresponding equation card. Next, the pair will work together to will derive the second equation. Finally, the students will solve the system using substitution.
Teaching Note: This activity needs to be cut out by the instructor before class begins.
I will ask the students to think of a scenario in their own life where they could create a system of equation to find the solution. Next, a volunteer will be asked to give a short summary of what we learned in class today. Students will then complete an exit card.
