From Graphing to Substitution

Unit 9: Systems of Equations
Lesson 10 of 20

Objective: SWBAT solve a system of equations approximately by graphing, and more precisely by using substitution. They will be able to interpret the slope and y-intercept of two linear equations in the context of a problem.

Big Idea: It’s amazing to get to the point where students truly understand how useful and beautiful algebra can be. Transitioning from graphing systems to solving by substitution is an opportunity to get kids there.
