Final Draft Day
Lesson 6 of 6
Objective: SWBAT apply the notes they received from peers during Essay Workshop day in order to submit their best comparitive analysis essays.
For this lesson, I take my classes to the computer lab to work on their final drafts. The students will bring their own notes, the notes provided by their peers during Workshop, and the texts themselves as we have used throughout the unit when comparing and contrasting them.
I have the students work through each section of their essays in order to build continuity and clarity. Prior to leaving class, students are expected to turn in their writing folder that includes their texts with graphic organizers, rough draft, their notes from Workshop, and their final draft. I like to be able to see the entire process for each student, rather than simply grading all the final drafts with the Rubric and calling it a day.
