Main Idea and Supporting Details Assessment

Objective: SWBAT determine the main idea and identify supporting details of a text.
The test was comprised of three passages I found in my district’s assessment item test bank. I created six questions in the same format as the sample test items found on the PARCC assessment website. I wanted the test to mirror the type of questions students will encounter on the state’s year-end assessment beginning next year. (There may be beta test items included this year.)
The test was given during one hour of the reading block. Students were given additional time if needed. A score of 75% or higher was considered mastery.
