SWBAT demonstrate their understanding of idioms on our end of unit assessment.

Big Idea

This is our assessment day for idioms. The students will get to show what they know.

Idioms Review

15 minutes

I will use the book "There's a Frog in My Throat!" by Loreen Leedy and Pat Street to review idioms with the kids.  This is a great little picture book that has animal sayings that we use in the English language.  The book contains similes, metaphors, idioms, and proverbs.  This will be a great review for us not only for idioms, but for similes and metaphors as well.  It will also be a great introduction to proverbs which we have not yet talked about in class.

Idioms Assessment

30 minutes

After our idiom review, we will take the idiom assessment.  This is where the students will get to show what they have learned about idioms.  We spent a little more time on idioms than we did on similes and metaphors, so my hope is that they have a deeper understanding.
