In this Do Now, students will review how to calcuate the midpoint of a line segment given its two endpoints. This will access students' prior knowledge of midpoint, a skill needed to complete this lesson in mid-segments.
The Activity reviews how to prove that the mid-segment in a triangle is parallel to the base of the triangle using coordinate geometry and slope. There is also a link to online practice questions which review applied questions with mid-segments. Students can complete the activity in class or has a homework assignment depending on how much time is left in class.
The Exit Ticket requires students to determine the length of a side of a triangle given the length of a mid-segment. This could be used as a quick formative assessment for students' knowledge of this topic.
