Objective

SWBAT find the GCF and LCM of numbers.

Big Idea

Students collaborate on a project.

Introduction

5 minutes

I will remind students of the expectations I have of them:

1.  Work together

2.  Respect each other

On day 1 of the project, students should have completed the problem individually and discussed their work and answers with their group.  The focus of today is for groups to agree on a method and work to display on the chart paper.  Then they will work together to complete the poster.

I will remind students that all of their work should be on the poster, but they shouldn't include their final answers.  Since this is the last day to complete the project, I will frequently give students time checks.

Project Assignment

35 minutes

Groups will continue with their project.  This is a work day in which they are expected to complete the project.

Group 1:  Find the GCF and LCM of 42 and 24

Group 2:  Find the GCF and LCM of 14 and 35

Group 3:  Find the GCF and LCM of 32 and 56

Group 4:  Find the GCF and LCM of 24 and 60

Group 5:  Find the GCF and LCM of 36 and 42

Group 6:  Find the GCF and LCM of 40 and 65

Group 7:  Find the GCF and LCM of 30 and 48

Group 8:  Find the GCF and LCM of 30 and 72

As groups continue to work on the project for the second day, I will circulate throughout the classroom, answer any questions that are raised, and keep them on pace.
