**Opener: **As students enter the room, they will immediately pick up and begin working on the opener. This method of working and going over the opener lends itself to allow students to construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others, which is **mathematical practice 3**.

**Learning Target: **After completion of the opener, I will address the day’s learning targets to the students. Multiplying and Dividing Integers Notes: Multipying and Dividing Integers Explore Narrative

Instructional Strategy - How do table challenges work?: For today’s table challenge I am going to have students complete multiplication and division of integers through evaluating expressions. The challenge utilizes the multiple choice feature of the smartboard. I will give the students the values of a, b and c prior to the challenge, and then each question will ask that they perform operations on those values. For this challenge, I will pull cards labeled 1-8 to determine which table (1-8) answers which question. As with all work with signed numbers, students will need to be precise with their calculations (**mathematical practice 6**). This activity also poses the questions in a new format (expressions) so students will need to persevere with problem solving to get them answered correctly (**mathematical practice 1**).

**Tic Tac Toe: **To summarize this lesson, I am going to ask students to discuss at their tables how they could arrange 3 positives and 6 negatives on a tic tac toe board such that every possible three in a row represents the multiplication and division sign rules. I will instruct tables to stand when they have the solution, and I will have the first table up to present it to the class.
