The activity today will take most of the class period to complete so I would keep the bellringer work short but important. I would ask students a simple question such as graph the equation y = 2x - 6. Move about the room assessing students and select one student to present under the document camera. After the presentation, ask students how many solutions the equation y = 2x - 6 has and discuss fully why infinite solutions is a logical answer. Let students know that the new unit is also centered around linear equations in two variables but these equations sometimes have only one solution to fit the situation. The lab today is an introduction to the unit.
