This unit adresses the following general learning goals: -Identify the parts of speech and use them correctly -Know the requirements of a sentence (subject and predicate) -Differentiate between complete and non-complete sentences -Know how to spell contractions correctly. Here is a suggested list of daily objectives: SWBAT define and identify nouns. SWBAT correctly form the plurals of nouns, using s and –es. SWBAT correctly form the plurals of irregular nouns. SWBAT define, identify, and use pronouns correctly. SWBAT define and identify verbs. SWBAT differentiate between action, state of being, and linking verbs. SWKT there are regular and irregular verbs. SWBAT form the correct tense for a verb (present, past, future) SWKT regular and irregular verbs have different rules for the past tense. SWBAT know what the past participle is and when to use it. SWBAT define and identify adjectives. SWBAT define and identify adverbs. SWBAT define and identify simple conjunctions (and, or, but, nor) SWBAT define, identify, and use prepositions correctly. SWBAT know that a complete sentence has a subject and predicate. SWBAT differentiate complete sentences and fragments. SWBAT form and spell contractions correctly. SWBAT form and spell commonly misspelled contractions correctly. SWBAT form and spell irregular contractions correctly.
