Unit: Main Idea

Students will be able to identify the main idea of a text by only using the title, introduction and conclusion of the passage.

Students will be able to identify the main idea in a text and determine the topic, a new title for the passage, and construct a sentence that supports their findings.

Students will be able to use the subheadings and headings to predict a main idea of paragraph or section of a passage.

Students will be able to use map features and titles to generate and idea for the main idea for a map and guide determining a clarification for an overall main idea of the passage.

Students will be able to determine a new title based on their story to focus on the main idea or summary of a text.

Objective: Students will be able to compare and contrast the differences between baseball in the past and baseball in the present.

Students will be able to identify the main idea and details of a passage or story.

Students will be able to identify important details vs. unimportant details
