Unit Description

This is a writing unit that will teach students how to write historical fiction. The purpose of this unit was to integrate writing standards with our study of slaves in history. The students will write a piece of fiction as if they are a slave escaping on the underground railroad. All five steps of the writing process are used in this essay. There are 8 lessons in this unit, but the unit will take 11 days to complete. Extra days are needed for writing and editing. Student sample is loaded for your review.
