Lesson 5-3 Kindergarten

SWBAT read and play different combinations of rhythms that use quarter, half, dotted half and quarter notes that they can combine with other students in the class to make a 4 measure rhythm. LANGUAGE OBJECTIVE-SWBAT explain to the class using full sentences the sequence of rhythms that they put in order to make a 4 measure rhythm.

Students will be able to look at 4 beat rhythm patterns, put the appropriate rhythm syllables underneath the note and chant, clap, and play the rhythm correctly according to the syllables. they wrote down. LANGUAGE OBJECTIVE-Students will use rhythm syllables to increase reading to speech fluency.

SWBAT read, chant, and play the rhythm to a mystery song that they are familiar with that uses quarter, half, dotted half and whole notes. LANGUAGE OBJECTIVE-SWBAT adjust their rate of speaking by noticing the beat as they read the different rhythm syllables for each phrase.
