### Lesson Objective

Students will be able to identify the coins by name and value.

### Lesson Plan

*Distribute a gluestick to each student and the Do Now "Coin Sheet".

Do Now

In Math Journal write the title:  U.S. Coins and Their Values.  Tell students to  paste a copy of "Coins and Their Values".  Tell students to use brown to color the penny, pencil to color in all other coins.

*Collect Scissors.

Direct Instruction

Tell students that one way to remember the coins and their values is to memorize the "Coin Game Song".

The Coin Game Song (sung to the tune of Take Me Out to the Ballgame)

Take me out to the coin game.
Take me out to the bank.
A pennies worth one, and a nickel five.
A dime is worth ten, and a quarter twenty-five.
For it's root, root, root for the coin game.
What we don't spend we will save
For it's one, five, ten, twenty-five at the old coin game.

Independent Practice

With a group of 4-5 members, practice singing the coin game song.

Closing

Allow each group to sing the Coin Game song.
