Lesson Objective
SWBAT how to play Chopsticks on glockenspiels by reading notes on the treble staff and playing with 1 mallet in each hand.
LANGUAGE OBJECTIVE-SWBAT will be able to define Tier 3 words involved in the lesson (interval, mallet, melodic, and harmonic)
Lesson Plan
Information (Give and/or demonstrate necessary information)
Students will review techniques for discovering letters on lines and letters on spaces of the treble staff
Review -the dotted half note and how to clap it
Students wil review 4 intervals M2nd (F,G), m3rd (E,G), M6 (D,B) and P8 (C,C) and measure the distance of each interval by numbers of bars in between
New Information - Rules for playing the Glockenspiel
The difference of glockenspiels from boomwhackers when playing the same song.
Verification (Steps to check for student understanding)
Did student label the letters of the intervals correctly?
Did find the correct bars and identify the colors of the bars for those pitches
Were the students able to play intervals with correct rhythm?
Activity (Describe the independent activity to reinforce this lesson)
Students will be given a glockenspiel and be asked to play the 4 intervals in rhythm that go with Whacky Chopsticks
