Direct Teaching
(I) will read the passage, “A Tricky Monkey.” (Passage is provided.) I will complete a graphic organizer, identifying the author’s purpose and the details that support the author’s purpose. (Example graphic organizer is provided.)
Guided Practice
(We) will read the passage, “Fit for Life.” (Passage is provided.) We will complete a graphic organizer, identifying the author’s purpose and the details that support the author’s purpose. (Example graphic organizer is provided.)
Independent Practice
(You) will read the passage, “Ice City.” (Passage is provided.) You will complete the graphic organizer, identifying the author’s purpose and the details support tell the reader the author’s purpose. (Independent Practice is provided.)
