Direct Teach/Guided Practice: Scholars will be reviewing today and tomorrow for the LEAP. Teacher led review of early Americans, colonization, government, geography and map skills.

Direct Teach/Guided Practice:Scholars are preparing for the LEAP. We will be taking apart a reading passage focusing on test taking skills. Scholars will label each question with the type of question ie. Summarize, main idea, cause and effect, fact/opinion, sequencing, etc. |
Independent Work Scholars will complete fact sheet with partner. Scholars will compare and check answers on Tuesday.

Independent Work: After teacher and class work strategies and label questions, scholars answer comprehension question independently. Scholars come back together to check answers, explain thinking and prove answers. |
Closure/Exit Ticket: Who were the first Americans? What was the difference between the Northern and Southern colonies? |

Independent Work:Scholars locate 5 tough words given by the teacher in a reading passage. Using reading strategies, decode the words and find their meaning. |
