Lesson Plan

Objective:  Students will be able to compare and contrast different elements between baseball in the past and baseball and the present .

Do-Now:  choose a topic that you can compare that is different now that was difference in the past.  For example think about how music used to be in the past and the music in the present, Christmas presents when you were older and when you were younger that you can compare and contrast.

Connection:  Things are changing around us all of the time, even from when I was little and when I was in school things are so much different.  Every day the times are changing and days are getting different.  Today we are going to focus on the difference between baseball in the past and baseball in the future when we read the book Teammmates.

Teach/Model:  Display  a venn diagram teach students how they use different forms to compare and contrast.  Today we are just going to focus on how to compare and contrast using a chart to compare the differences between baseball in the past and baseball in the future.

Read teammates with the students and put details from the story in place in the different places on the venn diagram.

Highlight how you should write sentences that describe that are strong detailed sentences instead of just placing words or minimal details in the box.

Independent Work:  Students will finish by adding to their graphic organizers.
