Have time to engage with other ELAR teachers planning from novels to get questions answered, build your skill, and progress on your work.

Have time to engage with other ELAR teachers planning from short stories to get questions answered, build your skill, and progress on your work.

During this time, get focused help on how to use a mentor text to pull out specific elements of the authors’ style, structure, and technique for students to model in their own writing. Learn about the Jane Shaffer method of writing to begin teaching students how to write expository and analytical essays. How do we equip students to become independent readers and guided of their own comprehension? This session focuses on prompting students to use comprehension strategies (part of what we already plan in the ELA framework) to further their understanding of the text and build comprehension.
