Big Idea:In order to be successful at any job, you need the right tools. Before we start collecting information, we need an organizational tool - the research notebook. Students learn how to use it correctly and avoid common research mistakes.
Big Idea:After reviewing the five types, students will select the NF structure that is most appropriate for their topic, explain why this is the best choice, and begin to identify the best text features to include with their projects.
Big Idea:After weeks of research and writing, students are ready to publish their work! They will design and draft each chapter, add text features, and color their final product. We work together to bind it in a book format.
Big Idea:After working for weeks on their informational writing projects, students participate in a gallery share reading each other's work, leaving positive comments, and learning something new in the process!
